Operational Experience

 

More than twenty years of experience: contracting and managing IATSE union crews of more than twenty hands in addition to scheduling and managing student and volunteer crews; negotiating and fulfilling production riders; and generating, negotiating, and scheduling shop orders for multiple-concurrent productions.

Three years of experience providing technical consulting and actively participating on the program committee for the Southwest Iowa Arts Center.  Recommending and performing the technical facilitation for act such as Linda Eder, Trinity Irish Dance Company, Pilobolus Dance Theatre, and Jimmy Hoper.

As the Technical Director for the Southwest Iowa Arts Center; a two theater complex consisting of a 660 seat proscenium theater, a 120 seat black-box, scene shop, and vocal, instrumental, and visual arts class rooms; responsibilities included: providing direct technical assistance and consultation during the actual construction of the facility; overseeing the installation of the lighting, sound, and counterweight systems; researching and installing a computerized ticketing system; authoring policies and procedures for the facility; providing marketing and sales consultation; and providing long-term operational consultation and planning for the facility as a whole.

As the technical engineer for Peony Park Inc. responsibilities included: planning, specifying, installing, and maintaining public-address and performance sound systems, video, and telecommunications systems for the multi-acre amusement park and water park, with multiple performance stages, and a multi-room catering facility.

Extensive experience with: AutoCAD; LightWright; Cool Edit Pro (Adobe Audition); WinTix; Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, Project, Publisher, and Visio); Print Shop; Microsoft Windows, OS2, AIX, Linux, Solaris, SCO Unix, MS-DOS.

Extensive hands-on experience with the following lighting equipment: ETC Express, ETC Expression, ETC Net, Wholehog, Horizon, Colortran consoles and luminaries, Electro Controls consoles and dimmers, EDI consoles and dimmers, StatusCue, Navigator, Celco consoles, High End Systems automated luminaries, Vari*Lite luminaries, Altman luminaries, Fleenor, GAM, Rosco, Lee, Applo, BARCO projectors, Martin luminaries, Lightronics, WYSIWYG, Lycian, Strong, hazers, foggers, dry ice systems, and many others.

Extensive hands-on experience with the following sound equipment: Yamaha DM2000, Mackie 3200, 2400, Peavy mixers, MCI multi-track recorders, PC based multi-track digital recorders,  Eventide processors, AKG microphones and processing, Shure microphones and processing, SoundCraft mixers, Furman, Crown amplifiers and microphones, BGW, DBX processing, RANE, QSC, EMT, Audio-Technica, Altec mixers, processors, and amplifiers, Electro Voice, Neumann, Sennheiser, EAW, and others.
